Visit of His Holiness Pope John Paul II to the Holy Land

SECRETARIAT OF STATE
From the Vatican, 27 March 2000

Your Beatitude,

I have the honor to transmit the following message:

“On returning to Rome from my Jubilee pilgrimage to the Holy Land, I wish to thank your Beatitude and the members of the Assembly of Ordinaries of the Holy Land for all that you did to make this visit such a memorable event. I wish to thank as well the priests, religious and lay faithful for their involvement and participation. The unforgettable experience of praying and celebrating the sacred liturgy in places so intimately connected with the life, ministry, death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ will remain forever etched in my mind and heart, and will continue to be for me a source of spiritual strength and nourishment. It is my fervent hope that the meetings which took place with various religious leaders will increase the commitment to greater understanding and co-operation among the three religious traditions present in the Holy Land.
Upon the Church in the Holy Land, and especially the young people, I invoke the Saviour’s gift of Joy and peace and I cordially impart my apostolic blessing.

     IOANNES PAULUS PP. II”
