The Ordinary Assembly of
the Catholics of the Holy Land was constituted on the initiative of the
Apostolic Delegate in Jerusalem,
to reinforce the unity of
the church in the Holy Land. The Assembly is formed of Ordinary Catholics
of the different rites under the jurisdiction of the Holy Land territory.
The Holy Father, John Paul
II, approved the statutes of the "Assembly of the Ordinary Catholics of
the Holy Land" on January 27, 1992.
The goal of the Assembly
is to coordinate the testimony of the gospel and the service of the community,
to study the common problems, to incite exchanges of information and experiences,
in order to establish pastoral action for the common good of all the church.
