INTRODUCTION
1-
The Episcopal Commission for the Means of Social Communication in Lebanon
was founded in 1968 by the Assembly of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops
in Lebanon (A.P.E.C.L.).
2-
It works in the name of all Catholic Communities of the Country and cooperates
with the other Communities, Christians as well as Moslems.
GOALS, BRANCHES,
MEMBERS AND STAFF
I- GOALS:
-
Use
the Means of Social Communication (M.C.S.) to diffuse the gospel, teachings
of the religion and the morals.
-
Sensitize
to the good use of the M.C.S.
-
Animate
and coordinate activities of the faithfuls in the domain of the M.C.S.
-
Diffuse
religious and Christian information in Lebanon, Arab countries and those
of emigration.

III- OBJECTIVES
(1993-1994 to 1996-1997):
1-
Improve the structure and make the branches of the Commission stronger
2-
Employ a larger number of professionals and specialists in the C.S.
3-
Cooperate more with the different medias and centers of information in
Lebanon and abroad.
4-
Intensify the collaboration with :
-
The
Catholic communities of the country and the different ecclesiastic units:
dioceses, parishes, schools, institutions, apostolic movements, youth movements,
etc.

The

The
Non - Christians Communities: Sunnites, Chiites, Druzes, etc.

Secure a more stable income.
IV- PROJECTS (1993-1994
to 1996-1997):
1- Projects
to be carried through:
Cooperate
with the local and international medias.
Translate
in Arabic and to diffuse the papal documents and those of the Holy See.
Diffuse
the religious on the life of the church in Lebanon.
Attend
the activities of the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for Lebanon
through a special committee that has been formed.
Develop
the documentation and computer: programming and extension.
Ameliorate
the important files concerning points on the life of the church in Lebanon.
Collaborate
with T.V Stations and Tele - Lumiere.
2- Projects
to consider:
-
Create
an Audiovisual Branch and Evangelization (AV-EV) that will produce cassettes
and videocassettes. It will include a disco grouping, in addition to religious
songs and the programs diffused by our branches: Radio and TV.
-
To
fit and to enlarge the present premises, while endowing it with the necessary
equipment, and, if possible, to build more new suitable units.
-
Exploit
the documentation and the composing of books or files solving hourly problems.
-
Further
the technical formation of the Staff of the Branch-documentation to participate
with the specialized sessions.
-
Revise
the Statutes and interior Regulation in the light of the experience of
our Commission, and, if necessary to render them to conform to the new
Statutes and interior Regulations of the APECL.
-
Restructure
the finance Committees.
